The pro shop, meanwhile, is adjacent to the facility’s dining space and features a wide selection of premium-brand apparel and equipment for women, men and juniors.
About George L. Thomas
George L. Thomas’ dedication and love of golf is unequaled, his impact on the sport in the state of Indiana unrivaled.
The Michigan City, Ind., native was born in 1924 and spent a lifetime in and around the sport as a player, coach and instructor before his passing in 2012. A 1980 inductee into the Indiana Golf Hall of Fame, George was a three-time Indiana PGA Player of the Year, a two-time qualifier for the U.S. Open (1965 and 1974) and six-time participant in the U.S. Senior Open.
His greatest impact on the sport, though, came courtesy of a 47-year career as a PGA professional in the state of Indiana. It was in this role that he was able to share his love of the game with countless individuals, including his own children and grandchildren. Two of his five children–David and Joe–were members of the IU men’s golf team under coach Bob Fitch.
The Thomas family ties to Indiana University did not start nor end there. Following in the footsteps of George’s wife, Barbara, all five of his children went to IU–George, Jr., Scott, David, Joe and Theresa. Like their parents, they share a love for the game of golf, a devotion to the state of Indiana and a passion for Indiana University.
